The 436th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center is hosting the 6th Annual Children's Mobility Line June 25 from 8:40 - 11 a.m. at the Youth Center.

The event is to educate military children from all branches of service about the experience their parents go through prior to deploying.

"The purpose of the event is to allow children to see what their parents go through when they deploy, and to give them an understanding of what the military does," said Sue Holliday, 436th FSS A&FRC Director.

Children will experience what it's like for a deploying military member to walk through a mobility line set up with the actual stations servicemembers are required to go through.

"It is important for children to understand why their parents need to travel to another country for their mission," said Tech. Sgt. Stacy Boos, 436th FSS A&FRC Readiness Non-Commissioned Officer. "My eight-year-old daughter, Alexis, will be attending. I want her to see what I have to do and why I do it. Every time I deploy she asks why I have to go, and I think the deployment line experience will help with some of her questions."

The Children's Mobility Line is currently scheduled to have displays from 15 base agencies Some of following stations and demonstrations will be participating: 436th Security Forces Squadron K-9 demonstrations, 436th Logistics Readiness Squadron mobility gear and tent, Smokey the bear and Sparky the dog from the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department, a bomb disarming robot, face painting, and more.

Parents need to pre-register their children by June 22. Children that are pre-registered will receive backpacks with items.

There is no age limit for the children coming to the event, but parents must stay with their
children during the event.
