7/17/2012 - DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --

Name/rank: Staff Sgt. Rommel Ongaco

Squadron: 436th Force Support Squadron

Job description: Food service supervisor

Previous assignments: Beale Air Force Base, Calif.; Volkel Air Base, Netherlands.

Dream assignment and why? Probably a special duty assignment in the Philippines; I just think it might be a good experience acting as a bridge or ambassador between the two countries.

Family: My wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Katelynne, Nicole; and son, Christian.

Favorite movie: "The Avengers"

Favorite food: Filipino

Favorite book:
"The Hunger Games," by Suzane Collins

Who inspires you? Manny Pacquiao. He represented his country and literally put the Philippines on the map.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Probably retired and working as a chef.

Staff Sgt. Rommel Ongaco is the dining facility storeroom NCO in charge, where he is charged with ordering, storing and accounting for dining facility subsistence. However, due to deployments, he is assuming both the dining facility manager position and the food operations superintendent. As acting superintendent, he manages both the DFAC and flight kitchen operations and performs quality assurance surveillance on the food service attendant contract. Despite the additional duties and responsibilities Ongaco has assumed, his ability to be an effective and compassionate mentor to his Airmen in unrivaled. He is an invaluable asset to the 436th Airlift Wing.
- Master Sgt. Salvatore Rizzo
436th Force Support Squadron sustainment services superintendant
