More than 60 spouses of deployed Airmen were treated to a Deployed Spouses Spa Night Jan. 6 at Dover Air Force Base, Del. The event was held for spouses whose partner was deployed for 30 days or more and those who had or would be experiencing one 90 days before or after of the event.

The event provided chair massages, facials, a professional manicure lesson, haircuts, waxes, light refreshments and free child care. All services were provided courtesy of local business and school groups. Vietnam War veterans and several Dover AFB home-based-businesses provided door prizes.

"It was a lot of fun," said Ashlea Leak. "The massage was amazing and it was great being around other spouses who were going the same thing and being able to relate to them."

The Officer Spouses Club provided Dover AFB Welfare Funds to help get the Spa Night up and running. More than 35 volunteers assisted with the event.

"A Spa Night is the least we can do for these spouses, who sacrifice so much," said Stefanie Thompson, Key Spouse for the 436th Maintenance Squadron.
