Dover AFB crushes CFC goal Published Nov. 15, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Samuel Taylor 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Team Dover crushed its $180,000 fundraising goal for the 50th-annual Combined Federal Campaign Nov. 10, 2011, raising $183,361. The CFC is one of two Air Force-sponsored fundraisers service members can donate to on an annual basis. The CFC catalog compiles more than 1,000 local, national and international charities, each with a unique cause. Former President John F. Kennedy issued an executive order in 1961 that established the CFC as a way for charities to solicit funds from federal employees. "Team Dover certainly pulled together to make this year's campaign a success by supporting hundreds of different charities tailored to each individual's unique interests," said Capt. John DeCataldo, the installation CFC representative. Dover AFB exceeded last year's total by more than $5,000. The average donation per participant amounted to more than $150 - a strong showing for a small base. This may have been a result of the push to make 100 percent face-to-face contact with each squadron member. Dover AFB set the bar high for this year's campaign and, once again, went above and beyond in support of the community and the nation.
