The upcoming class will be teaching the crafts of rubber stamping and paper crafting while making handmade cards for various occasions. "This is a good opportunity for people to sign up because it's never too late to learn a new hobby or even try out a new craft," said Xan Salas, 436th Force Support Squadron Arts & Crafts director. "Handmade cards are also very economical, usually costing less than those in the store." The Arts & Crafts Center also offers card-makin classes for wedding invitations and thank you cards that can also be customized to coordinate with any color palette, said Ms. Salas. Learn the art of card-making from instructor Brandi Diaz at the Arts &Crafts Center at Dover Air Force Base. "Handmade cards are works of the heart," said Ms. Diaz, a card and scrapbooking instructor with more than five years experience. "A card has more meaning if people make it rather than buy it. I truly believe that everyone can appreciate when something is handmade, something even as basic as a handmade card." "Think of all of the moms and dads who have saved every crayon-colored card made by their children. They truly are something to treasure and admire," she said. Handmade cards can be made for any season, holiday or event. A variety of various card-making classes are also offered on base for every holiday season. "Making cards is a long lasting hobby. There are always occasions to make a handmade card because birthdays and holidays come around every year," said Ms. Diaz. For information or to register for classes, call 677-3242.
