Colonel Hafer installed as 436th OG commander

Col. David Hafer Jr. assumed command of the 436th Operations Group in a change-of-command ceremony March 25 at Hangar 706.

Colonel Hafer is replacing Col. David Horton, who is moving to serve as Mobility Division chief, Secretary of the Air Force Acquisitions, Pentagon, Washington D.C.

Colonel Hafer was assigned as 436th OG deputy commander. He was also a student at Air War College, Maxwell AFB, Ala., and branch chief of Mobility Assignments Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas.

Colonel Hafer was commissioned through the ROTC program at San Francisco State and received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He received a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University in 1997. He completed the College of Naval Command and Staff in 2001 and received a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies. He also received a Master of Strategic Studies from the Air War College.

"We have a bright future ahead of us," said Colonel Hafer. "I am honored to be your commander. Relationships matter and I know we're going to have a good one."

Colonel Hafer said he felt this was a really sweet moment, and he stressed that he would strive to continue the excellence that has come to be expected from Team Dover.
