CFC ready to take off at Dover Published Nov. 2, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Matthew Hubby 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The Combined Federal Campaign kicked off at Dover Air Force Base Oct. 19 and squadron volunteers are busy contacting wing personnel. The CFC is a program to promote and support philanthropy by federal employees. Its goal is to be employee focused, cost-effective and provide employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. "Our foremost goal is getting 100 percent contact with all of our members," said Capt. Joshua Solomon, 436th Communications Squadron operations flight commander, "We want to give everyone the opportunity to see who they can donate to. There are a ton of local charities participating, and many national and international ones as well, it's a very good program." The contact is done through brochures and donation forms given to the members of Team Dover. The brochure lists all the charities that are accepting donations through the campaign. "Dover has always met or exceeded our goal for the CFC," said Captain Solomon. "We make sure we get the word out, because quality face-to-face contact is important." The program will run until Dec. 11, when the pledge forms are forwarded to the United Way of Delaware, which is the Principle Combined Fund Organization responsible for tallying the results for the year. "All the pledge forms have to be processed so we can set up the quarterly donations for the organizations," said Phyl'licia Dixon, United Way of Delaware resource development associate. "We generate reports as well for the organizations with the names of donors who wish to be recognized, as well as a break-down of the donations so we can be sure everything gets where it needs to go."
