The Dover Air Force Base Air Passenger Terminal is scheduled to finish the first part of its upgrades Nov. 13.

These upgrades are part of a two-phase project to improve the aesthetics and user comforts of the Air Passenger Terminal.

"When people walk into the Air Passenger Terminal, they're looking at Dover, and we want to be sure they get a good impression," said 2nd Lt. Autumn Brown, 436th Aerial Port Squadron passenger service officer-in-charge. "We get a lot of distinguished visitors, so we're looking to improve the functionality of our terminal."

The first round of upgrades includes a new United Service Organization lounge as well as a new a distinguished visitor lounge. The USO lounge will be completed Nov. 13, and construction is scheduled to begin on the distinguished visitor lounge in December.

The goal of the 436th APS is to cut transportation down to a minimum. They will do this by bringing the in-flight kitchen into the terminal said Lieutenant Brown. "It will really help with our communication between sections, and increase our ability to make sure our customers are comfortable."

This communication and restructuring will also lighten the workload by limiting the amount of time it will take to get the passengers their in-flight meals.

"This move will allow the passengers to see what they are getting, and board the flight with meals in-hand," said Master Sgt. Terry Scolley, 436th APS passenger service superintendant. "It helps us as well, because if we have any questions, we can just walk across the floor to speak with the in-flight kitchen and get it sorted out quickly. It lowers the chances for mishaps and makes things run smoother."

These upgrades will allow for better comforts and support for the customers of the Air Passenger Terminal. The Air Passenger Terminal will also be remodeled to be more pleasing to the eye.

"It has been about ten years since the terminal has been renovated," said Lieutenant Brown. "We want to be sure that it looks the best as possible, so we're working hard to make it happen."
