The 2009 Combined Federal Campaign, the nation's largest annual workplace charity campaign, begins Monday at 10:30 a.m. with an agency fair in The Landings Club here.

The agency fair will give members of Team Dover the opportunity to talk with various local charities that have directly benefited from CFC contributions.

The fair is just one of several currently scheduled for the campaign, which will run through Dec. 11. This campaign allows military and federal civilians the opportunity to contribute to thousands of local and national non-profit organizations.

"This campaign is an excellent opportunity to step forward and give back to the community. The chance to help those in need and to give someone the opportunity for something better," said Captain Joshua Solomon, 436th Communications Squadron and this year's base representative for the CFC of Delaware. "A perfect example is that a contribution of only $4 a month will provide 3 days of childcare, allowing a low-income mother to go to work."

The theme for this year's campaign, "I Can ... Now, More Than Ever," touches on the rising need for support for those less fortunate within our communities. Last year CFC donations fed the hungry, aided disaster response, rescued beloved pets and helped to find cures, making a difference in thousands of people's lives.

"Together with the rest of the state, Team Dover made all of this happen, and now, more than ever, we can do it again," the captain said.
