SFS net AF award Published July 6, 2006 By 2nd Lt. Christina Sukach 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The 436th Security Forces Squadron recently garnered the Air Force’s award for Best Anti-terrorism Program for an Operational Unit. The squadron, which had won at the command level, is following an award-winning trend. Dover has garnered successive annual installation, unit or program manager antiterrorism awards since 1998. Captain Thomas Sebastiani, 436th SFS commander, said that the win was the result of hard work by many units. “This award is a reflection of our security forces troops’ daily vigilance, our benchmark procedures implemented by behind-the-scenes experts and the outstanding support we received from around the base, including the 436th Airlift Wing Anti-terrorism Office, the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron, the Eagle Eyes program, and everyone in the Force Protection Working Group,” he said. The daily vigilance displayed by members of Team Dover helps keep the base safe, said Capt. Sebastiani. “Our attention to detail and enforcement of stringent security policies ensure the base is protected against wrong doers,” he said. The Anti-terrorism Recognition Program was established by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict in 1993 to recognize personal and organizational efforts aimed at protecting DoD personnel and installations, sensitizing U.S. military and their families to the nature and dangers of terrorism, and deterring and preventing terrorist acts, according to a press release dated August 28, 1998 from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense.
