With back-to-back-to-back wins; the word, humble, has been removed from the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron's vocabulary.

The 436th CES has won the 2014 Maj. Gen. Robert H. Curtin Award (small unit) and several of its flights and Airmen have been recognized as award winners and runner-ups.

"Wow, I am incredibly proud of this team," said Col. Lisa Pike, 436th Mission Support Group commander. "To earn this award once is indeed a big accomplishment; to earn it three years in a row, that is a testament to the team's professionalism, pride and excellence with which they carry out their jobs."

The Maj. Gen. Robert H. Curtin Award, sponsored by the Society of American Military Engineers, annually recognizes the winners of the Air Force Outstanding Civil Engineer Unit Award in several unit size categories. The award is named for former Air Force Director of Civil Engineering, Maj. Gen. Robert H. Curtin, who held the position from 1963 to 1968.

"Three times is absolutely unheard of in the engineer community," said Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Pollock, 436th MSG superintendent. "Engineers lead the way!"

Other awards won by the 436th CES include the 2014 Brig. Gen. Archie S. Mayes Award won by the squadron's Programming Flight, the 2014 Maj. Gen. Eugene A. Lupia Award (company grade officer category) won by Capt. John Fuson, 436th CES Explosive Ordinance Disposal Flight chief, and the 2014 Maj. Gen. Joseph A. Ahearn Enlisted Leadership Award won by Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Pollock.

In an announcement to his squadron, Lt. Col. Scott Bryant, 436th CES commander, expressed his joy in the accomplishments of squadron and its Airmen.

"All I can say right now is WOW!"  stated Bryant. "I am beyond thrilled to be a part of such an amazing unit, in-and-out, and feel it each day coming to work; it's nice to see that others recognize the hard work that is put into the unit to make Dover a great place to live and work."

The EOD flight was also named runner-up for the 2014 Senior Master Sgt. Gerald J. Stryzak Award, and Tech. Sgt. Justin Alexander, 436th CES emergency manager, was named runner-up for the 2014 Emergency Manager of the Year (military).

"It is an honor to be recognized for this distinct award, especially knowing the quality of the competition," said Bryant. "These awards are truly reflective of all of Team Dover, we wouldn't have been able to sustain this honor without the support of our sister squadrons and mission partners."
