CC shares goals, first impressions Published Jan. 15, 2009 By Col. Manson O. Morris 436 AW commander DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- What an honor it is to be a part of Team Dover. I've already had the pleasure of meeting many of you at last week's change of command reception, during the 436th Airlift Wing's Quarterly Awards Ceremony, the Base Newcomer's Briefing, a visit to the Airman Leadership School and my 436th Mission Support Group immersion visits yesterday. I'll have an opportunity to continue these immersion visits over the next few weeks and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the locations where you make the mission happen. I know you'll be proud to showcase all of this great team's accomplishments. In the first week of command, I've already witnessed how this installation, with its active and Reserve components, military and civilian personnel, and critical tenant organizations, work cohesively to serve the American people. I'm extremely impressed by this incredible teamwork. This truly is a Total Force team, and one that provides an incredible array of capabilities in support of our nation's security. I'm equally impressed by the abundant commitment to excellence displayed by Dover's Airmen. We have plenty of opportunities on the horizon to demonstrate this excellence. Next month we'll receive the Air Force's first C-5M Super Galaxy, and play a central role in testing and evaluating the operational capability of this critical asset. We'll receive an external validation of our programs and key mission capabilities from the Air Mobility Command Inspector General during the upcoming Unit Compliance Inspection. All the while members of Team Dover will continue to execute missions and deploy throughout the world to provide America's Global Reach and win today's fight. While the mission is the reason we are here, it is vital to the continued success of any organization that its leaders take a genuine interest in their people's well being and success. To that end, I will do everything within my span of control to provide opportunities for you to develop personally and professionally. I'll also work to ensure you and your families are cared for ... you deserve nothing less. Americans across our country are dedicated to supporting and caring for our service members, and our local communities are no exception. We are blessed to have one of the most supportive communities in the Nation. Dover AFB could not accomplish all it does without the partnership of the surrounding communities. Our Nation holds its uniformed citizens in high esteem and depends on excellence from each of us. I know it's your goal to deliver. Every wing and staff I've had the opportunity to be a part of has been filled with great Americans who have dedicated their lives to the service of others ... you are no exception. I look forward to serving with each of you as we accomplish all of the tasks that lie ahead. Throughout, I know you will continue to prove that you are America's Preeminent Expeditionary Airlift Team.
