Navy Receives Solar Panels
U.S. Navy
Oct. 2, 2016 | 1:30
Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, Governor of Virginia Terry Mcauliffe, and Dominion Virginia Power President Thomas F. Farrell II signed a deal August 2 to bring more solar energy to the state of Virginia. This partnership will bring more than 40 megawatts of direct current of reliable and resilient solar energy power to Naval Air Station Oceana and naval station Norfolk, collectively ensuring the bases are more resilient and secure.
One key message of the event included energy security being critical of the department of the Navy’s ability to provide the global presence necessary to ensure stability, deter potential adversaries and present options for disaster relief and recovery in times of crises.
