Operation Allies Welcome - Operation Allies Refuge

Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th U.S. Cavalry Regiment from Fort Hood, and the 1st Battalion, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment from Fort Hood, Tx. participate in a two-day soccer event hosted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Indiana Soccer Association during Operations Allies Welcome at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Nov. 10, 2021. The Indiana Soccer Association is organized to provide nonprofit, public, educational soccer development and improve lives through soccer. This initiative provides essential support at secure locations outside of Afghanistan. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities in permanent or temporary structures as quickly as possible. (U.S. Army video by Sgt.
