Hobbyists: Chip Off the Ol' Block
U.S. Coast Guard District 8
June 7, 2016 | 1:47
Generational traditions take place between parents and their kids all the time. With Father's Day approaching, here is a story, in the Hobbyists Series, of a Coast Guard father and son continuing a family tradition: fathers and sons in a workshop sanding, sawing and carving memories with woodworking.
Hobbyists is a video series on the activities and hobbies of the U.S. service members outside of work. This video, Chip off the Ol' Block, is of Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Rob Adams and his son Alex, who spend their time together between deployments doing woodworking projects together.
Rob used to do wood projects with his father and is now passing on the generational tradition of woodworking to his son.
