Liberation of Manila (WWII Documentary)

On 9 January 1945, the U.S. Army returned to the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Landing on the beaches along Lingayen Gulf, Sixth Army sought to undo the Imperial Japanese Army’s conquest of 1942. To that end, between 3 February and 3 March, elements of Sixth Army participated in a month-long block by block, building by building battle to liberate the Philippine capital of Manila from its Imperial Japanese occupiers.
“Liberation of Manila” recounts the U.S. Army’s most difficult experience with urban warfare during the Second World War, and the only one in the Pacific Theater.
