The History Galley: US Navy Birthday Cake
Naval History and Heritage Command
Oct. 29, 2020 | 6:24
Naval History & Heritage Command takes us into the History Galley with another recipe from the 1945 edition of the Cookbook of the US Navy. At celebrations from ships to shore, the Navy's birthday cake is cut by the most oldest and youngest sailor at the same time. The tradition is said to represent passing knowledge and experience from one generation to the next, and makes cake an integral part of the Birthday Ceremony. Follow along and learn how to make this recipe at home!
