Nine months of meetings, conferences, planning sessions and training missions between the U.S. Army Reserve Engagement Team-Japan and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force culminated in the first ever Bilateral Civil Affairs Course conducted on Japanese soil. Army Sgt. John Carkeet documents how a class of U.S. Army Reserve instructors and JGSDF students exchange their expert knowledge and experience to carve another column along the foundation of this enduring partnership.
