U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center
March 5, 2019 | 1:46
Dr. Victor Medina, a research engineer with U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Environmental Laboratory, presents the Decontamination Effluent Treatment System. The DETS is the first system designed, built and demonstrated to treat CBRN-contaminated wastewater. This state-of-the-art system is adaptable to address other water treatment issues. The system is useful during disaster response, as it can both treat water and provide energy to impacted communities. Medina's team is also developing a system called the PFAS Effluent Treatment System; the PETS treats Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances.
