Team Dover held the First State Community Partnership Annual Key Stakeholder meeting for community partners at The Landings Club on Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, Nov. 9, 2017. The purpose of the event was to ensure the community was aware of active projects within the program and planning future opportunities.

The FSCP program includes participation from members all over base and within the local community. Attendees included base leadership as well as members from local and state community partners.

“The purpose of the meeting was connectivity, to bring the base and local community members together and share the First State Community Partnership's progress, successes and future focus,” said Laura Kantor-Chupp, 436th Airlift Wing First State Community Partnership program manager.

The FSCP is part of the Air Force Community Partnership program which includes 62 installations. The overall purpose of these programs is to create meaningful relationships between bases and their communities. These relationships would potentially produce benefits for both stakeholders.

Some of the partnerships associated with DAFB are support with dependent employment, transition assistance, emergency response and mutual training opportunities. Some of the successes from the FSCP are the 2017 Transition Summit, expanded transportation for Airmen and the creation of a community calendar. These events are opportunities to discuss current projects and build an even stronger connection to the community.

“I would like to think this event is useful to the local community. The hope is that it offers the opportunity to link Dover AFB personnel and organizations to their community counterparts,” said Kantor-Chupp. “If we can make one connection at our meetings, it is successful.”

Some of the new opportunities discussed related to facility recapitalization, which helps each group identify possible shared spaces to save money. Areas of interest included housing for Airmen and determining the need for conference space in the local community. These discussions gave stakeholders a way ahead for future planning.

“If I was determining success on the energy in the room and the conversations taking place after the last slide was presented, I would have to say yes, connectivity and purpose was achieved,” said Kantor-Chupp.
