8/14/2012 - DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --

Name/rank: Airman 1st Class Benjamin Chevalier

Squadron: 436th Maintenance Squadron

Job description: C-5M Super Galaxy engine mechanic

Dream assignment and why? I would love to get the opportunity to serve in Europe. One of the biggest reasons that I joined the military was to see the world, and I believe Europe would be a great experience for me.

Family: My father, Paul; mother, Tisha; brothers, Bennett and Jeziah; and my sister Emily

Favorite movie: "Inception"

Favorite food: Anything Italian

Favorite book: To be honest, I haven't read a book since high school. Can't say I was ever a fan of reading.

Who inspires you? My family. They are a huge part of who I am today, and if it wasn't for them, I can honestly say I wouldn't be where I am today. They have been, and always will be the greatest inspiration in my life.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Doing what I am now, but with more stripes on my sleeves and much more experience under my belt.

Airman 1st Class Benjamin Chevalier is assigned to the jet engine intermediate Maintenance shop where he diligently tears down, repairs and rebuilds TF39 jet engines. One of his greatest qualities is that when given a task, Chevalier does his own research in Air Force Instructions and technical orders to find out the correct process for removing, inspecting and installing a part. Chevalier's attention to detail help his crew find multiple items that needed to be changed on the engine prior to it leavening the shop. Chevalier also leads by example with his participation in setting up and tearing down change of commands, and his daily outstanding professional conduct, exhibiting a professional image with his uniform wear, and his customs and courtesies. I am glad to see Chevalier recognized as the Airman of the week since he is the Airman of the week every week in his dock and deserves the rest of the wing to know what an outstanding Airman he is to Team Dover and the United States Air Force.
