Rock Solid Warrior: Senior Airman Hunter Reed Published Nov. 16, 2016 By Senior Airman Andrew Park 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs SOUTHWEST ASIA -- I’m Senior Airman Hunter Reed, a 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment journeyman. I am deployed from the 436th Maintenance Squadron at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. I joined the Air Force because I needed the discipline and wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. At that point in my life the Air Force aligned with those needs and I knew the Air Force would give me the tools and experience to become a better person. As an AGE journeyman, I maintain and deliver support equipment to aircraft. This equipment aids personnel when it comes to fixing maintenance and complying with inspections and tests so that the aircraft is up and ready to complete the mission. I do this job every day, so it can be easy to lose sight of why I do this job. The best part for me is when I take a step back and realize how important a role we play in getting the mission done. Everyone has a part to play and it’s important to know that. The biggest challenge I face is when units come in for unique or rare issues that require extensive troubleshooting. In most cases you just have to roll up your sleeves and start digging (and ask a million questions)! My biggest professional goal is to complete my CCAF and continue putting in as much work as I can while I’m here. My personal goals are to complete my nutrition certification and continue growing my knowledge and coaching abilities so that when I discharge from the Air Force I can better serve people as a full-time personal trainer. Some of my hobbies include reading books and articles on marketing and anything related to fitness, spending all the time I can with my girlfriend and puppies, hiking, jumping rope, listening to music, watching good action movies and improving on my own fitness goals.
