Dover AFB is proud to host an all-day retirement seminar presented by Donna Sartain of Donna Sartain Human Resources Services from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at the base theater. The event will focus on the Civil Service Retirement System and Federal Employee Retirement System and will have a one-hour lunch break. If you are a Federal employee, you will want to attend this fact-filled retirement seminar.

Sartain graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources and Business Management from the University of Maryland in 1981. She spent 13 years working for the Office of Personnel Management as a human resource specialist and a supervisor in employee staffing and position classification. She transferred to the Food and Drug Administration’s Health and Human Services office and worked as a supervisor in the HR office where she directed a team of HR specialists, until she transferred to the OPM in 1996 and became the agency’s benefit officer.

Sartain served as OPM’s benefit officer for more than 23 years, where she followed her passion, helped federal employees understand their benefits and assisted with retirement decisions. She developed and presented OPM’s retirement seminars, benefit briefings and the agency’s Financial Education Plan. She also worked to improve the employee’s financial literacy. A three-time recipient of the OPM Director’s Award for her innovative ideas, she retired in December 2013 with more than 36 years of Federal HR experience.

In June 2015, she started an HR company, and she still enjoys leading retirement seminars, retirement estimates, benefit briefings and assisting current and past federal employees with critical retirement and benefit decisions.

Sartain currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband, and she continues to follow her passion: working with current and past federal employees, and helping them understand their federal benefits. She is an active member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) .

The following topics will be discussed at the retirement seminar: retirement eligibility, deposits and re-deposits, annuity computations, Social Security basics, Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP), Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB, Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Federal Long Term Care Insurance, Survivor Benefit elections and much more.

Plans are being made to host additional retirement seminars later in 2017.

Take control of your federal retirement. Learn about the important and critical decisions you need to make before retiring, which will affect the rest of your financial life.
