DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Team Dover would like to welcome Chief Master Sgt. Shae Gee as the new command chief and senior enlisted member on the installation.
“My role for the Air Force is to take the Air Mobility Command’s mission and priorities and combine into the 436th Airlift Wing’s mission, vision and priorities, rapid global air mobility,” Gee said. “It’s important that we capture what everybody’s role on the base is, down to the individual that works at military personnel flight, down to our defenders that work the gates and then our medical team that takes care of the behind-the-scenes, keeping our people healthy, so they can do their mission. Really, it entails every single piece of the mission here at Dover, and making sure I can explain and educate our force on what their specific role they plays in that bigger picture.”
Prior to Dover, Gee was serving as the 17th Mission Support Group superintendent at Goodfellow AFB, Texas.
“I covered all support factors at Goodfellow AFB in St. Angelo, Texas,” Gee said. “The squadrons I covered were the force support squadron, logistics readiness squadron, contracting, civil engineer, communications squadron and security forces squadron.”
As command chief, Gee’s responsibility is to advise the unit commanders on all enlisted matters. This includes issues affecting readiness, training, morale, quality of life, mission and operations.
Ironically, as a younger Airman, Gee never thought she would serve more than a few years. Gee entered the U.S. Air Force in January of 1994 and graduated from the Services Apprentice School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in May of 1994.
“I never really got my aha moment of wanting to be in the Air Force longer than a few years until I was a young staff sergeant,” Gee said. “I had some leadership that really took me under their wing and guided me through tragedy and making sure that my family was taken care of. I make sure to give back full force, because they really took care of me and showed me what the Air Force is and I want to be able to do that for others.”
Throughout her now many years of Air Force service, Gee has developed a breadth of experience, which includes being a military training instructor and a leader within the services career field.
When asked what the best part of being a command chief was, Gee smiled and replied that it is being with the Airmen. She is anxious to work alongside them and be a part of what they do every day.
Gee said that if she had a message to the Airmen, it would be a quote by Deepak Chopra that really helps her every day: “Even when you think you have your life all mapped out, things happen that shape your destiny in ways you might never have imagined.”
Gee said, “For the Airmen here, their imagination – their innovation – has really showed, and I am impressed and excited to be on the team.”
