Public Comment Period for Dover AFB Five Year Review

Dover Air Force Base is providing a public comment period from June 17 to July 31, 2013 for a Five Year Review Report of environmental cleanup activities at the base. This report summarizes the history and progress of environmental cleanup actions at the base and recommends follow-up actions. Groundwater contaminants, primarily solvents, from historical activities are present underneath the base. Drinking water is not affected. Dover AFB is remediating contamination using an enhanced biodegradation remedy. Vegetable oil is being injected into the ground under the base to enhance natural biodegradation of the contaminants. The public is invited to review and comment on the Five Year Review Report which summarizes these and other base environmental cleanup activities. The document is available at:
