One activity most people enjoy as a child but often don't get to experience as an adult is dodgeball.

The 436th Force Support Squadron remedied that as it hosted a St. Patrick's Day dodgeball tournament March 15, 2013, at the fitness center on Dover Air Force Base, Del.

Honor Guard Team 1 came back from being down 2-0 in the best-of-five finals to defeat their rival Honor Guard Team 2 to win the championship.

Alexander King, a player for Team 1, said it was great to defeat a team from his own unit.

"It felt good to beat someone we have to spend all day with," King said. "It was a fun tournament and I'm just glad that we could win."

The tournament was a single-elimination format, best two-out-of-three match. In match one, the 436th Comptroller Squadron defeated the 3rd Airlift Squadron 2-0 and in match two Honor Guard Team 1 defeated the 436th FSS 2-0, setting up a match between the 436th CPTS and Honor Guard Team 2 to see who would play in the championship.

After both teams split the first two games, Honor Guard Team 2 won, despite having only one player left the last minute of the game.

In the championship match, Honor Guard Team 2 pulled out to a 2-0 lead, but watched as Honor Guard Team 1 came back to win three straight games and the title.

Honor Guard Team 2 player Deandre Reid said it was a letdown to lose championship after being up two games.

"I felt like we had the momentum," said Reid. "Once we won that second game, I think we let our guard down a little bit and that allowed them to come back. I think we were too worried about how we were going to brag about winning once we got back to the unit."

King said Team 1 had no doubt it would win the championship.

"We always knew we would come back and win," King said. "We just let them get ahead so they would feel like they had a chance to win."
