Firefighters Association sponsors Memorial Brick fundraiser Published Aug. 30, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Kathryn Stilwell 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The Eagle Firefighters Association is holding a Memorial Brick fundraiser at the Riverwalk in Milford, Del., Sept. 10, 2011. Contributions will fund the construction of a 9/11 memorial. Personal bricks for the memorial walkway sell for $75 and bricks can be purchased by businesses for $150. The memorial, is being constructed using pieces of support beams from the World Trade Center's North Tower. The Eagle Firefighters are also participating in an event at Dover Downs Sept. 11. Firefighters climb 110 flights of stairs, which is the exact amount in the World Trade Center's Twin Towers. The climb is being done in memory of the 343 firefighters who gave their lives during 9/11. Bricks can also be purchased at the Association's website: http://www.eaglefirefighters.com.
