Free Rentals - no late fees! Base library offers DVDs Published May 18, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Shen-Chia Chu 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Watching movies in the theatre can get expensive and renting DVDs can be a hassle to return, but the Base Library has offered another alternative for home entertainment to Team Dover members. The Library currently has a stock of approximately 60-70 movies on DVD available for check out. "The DVD collection is fast moving and has been very good for the Library's circulation," said Ella Dudley, 436th Force Support Squadron Base Library aide. This small but varied collection of newer titles contains children's titles such as "Aliens in the Attic" and "Disney's The Princess and the Frog" to adult titles such as "Couples Retreat," "The Hurt Locker" and "Sherlock Holmes." "The Library has long tried to start up a DVD movie collection for our patrons and this is a welcome addition," said Richard Krueger, 436th FSS Base Library director. "We have tried to select an exciting collection of movies for all ages even though the collection is small. All DVD movies are located in the audio visual and magazine room in an easy to browse bin." Here are some of the rules to know: 1. DVDs are limited to one per family and cannot be renewed. 2. DVDs are checked out for one week only. Holds can be placed if the DVD is checked out, but the Library will not take weekend reservations. 3. Parents must check out DVDs for their children. 4. DVDs may not be returned in the Library's outside book drop. If a DVD is returned in the book drop and gets damaged, it is the responsibility of the borrower to replace it. 5. It is the Library's discretion to add a movie to the collection and all titles added will officially be library property. "The Library will gladly accept donations to the DVD movie collection, but it may take some time to process donations to add to the collection for circulation," said Mr. Krueger.
