AMC Daedalian Award selection team to visit Team Dover Published Dec. 2, 2009 By Lt. Col. Sean K. Tyler 436th LRS commander DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The 436th Logistics Readiness Squadron was recently selected as one of three Air Mobility Command finalists for the prestigious Daedalian Major General Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award. The award is presented annually to the best logistics readiness squadron in the Air Force that exhibit the highest levels of direct mission support, innovative management and quality of life impact. Col. Phillip Frederick, director of Logistics Readiness at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, and Chief Master Sgts. John McNulty and Dawn Raisanen will visit Dover Dec. 7-8 to assess the 436th LRS's accomplishments during the award period of Oct. 1, 2008 to Sept. 30, 2009. The 436th LRS was a finalist for this award in 2006 and looks forward to highlighting its mission success, accomplishments and displaying its most important resource ... the unit's 375 Log Readiness Warriors. This was a banner year for the men and women of the 436th LRS! The unit earned an "Outstanding" on the AMC Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection and an "Excellent" on the AMC Unit Compliance Inspection. Partnering with maintenance, operations, medical and mission support personnel on several key initiatives, the team provided unrivaled logistics readiness to Team Dover's C-5 Galaxy, C-5M Super Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III and transient aircraft. Additionally, the unit delivered transportation and fuels support for the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Center, ensuring the Department of Defense honored our fallen heroes with dignity, honor and respect. Finally, the "Ready to Roll" bunch accomplished its mission of "Delivering Logistics Readiness!" home station and abroad as approximately 70 members deployed during the period in support of Air and Space Expeditionary Force and Joint Expeditionary Taskings for Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. "The unit looks forward to hosting the headquarters team, allowing our Airmen to show off their accomplishments and why we are the best in AMC!" said Sheila Thomas, 436th LRS Logistics Manager. After leaving Dover, the headquarters team will travel to Charleston AFB, S.C., and Little Rock AFB, Ark., before making their final selection and send the AMC winner forward to compete at the Air Force level.
