Team Dover’s first MatchUp grand prize winner Published Sept. 14, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Matthew Hubby 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- A military retiree received a $7,000 grand prize from Air Mobility Command MatchUp Sept. 3. "It was a shock when I got the call telling me I had won," said Sam Marinucci, a retired technical sergeant. "I've been playing for three years and I usually only won the gift certificates and a $25 prize, so I wasn't expecting to win the grand prize. I just played because I enjoy trying to beat the clock on the MatchUp Web site game." AMC MatchUp is a seasonal game offered by AMC to increase morale and support of Force Support Squadron services. Mr. Marinucci said he was also surprised to learn that he was the first grand prize winner on Dover Air Force Base, Del. "This is the first time Dover Air Force Base has had a grand prize winner," said Linda Sperry, 436th Force Support Squadron marketing director. "When I spoke with Mr. Marinucci he said he had not planned on playing AMC MatchUp this year, but while volunteering at the wing picnic in June he received some cards from us, and he decided to give it another try." Mr. Marinucci played AMC MatchUp following this new inspiration, allowing him to win the $7,000 prize.
