Eagle Lanes Bowling Center will join more than 3,200 bowling centers to achieve a new world record Sept. 5.

The goal of this event is to break the current world record by bowling more than a million games in a single day. All those that take part in the world record breaking event will receive a certificate of participation.

"On Dover Air Force Base and across the United Sates, bowling has seen an incredible resurgence in popularity," said Carl Schlesinger, 436th Force Support Squadron Eagle Lanes Bowling Center manager. "We are proud to celebrate a great year for bowling and to thank all of the people who have supported our center."

The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America announced the number of games to beat this year at Bowl Expo and launched a campaign to get bowling centers all over the United States to join them in beating the record.

"We are excited to join thousands of centers, across the United States in this attempt, and we invite bowlers of all levels to join us in our record-breaking festivities," said Mr. Schlesinger. "I'm sure we'll break the record, and I hope that everybody comes out and has a great time. It is going to be a fun evening."

A coupon for a free game of bowling Sept. 5 can be printed from www.bowl.com and used from noon - 8 p.m.

"I'm not a big bowler, but I'd definitely help out," said Airman 1st Class Zachery Devorak, 436th Dental Squadron dental assistant. "It sounds like a good way to spend an evening, trying to break the record."
