736 AMXS keeps undefeated streak alive Published July 23, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Chad Padgett 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The 736th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron intramural softball team remained undefeated after winning 9 - 5 July 16 against the 436th Maintenance Squadron 9 - 5 July 16. The 436th MXS dropped to a 3 - 2 record. "We improved from our last game, but we made some small errors," said Derek Doan, 436th MXS coach. "736th AMXS is the team to beat, they're our main competition. We're going to come back from this, and we'll see them again in the playoffs." Both teams came out strong keeping the score board empty, but a dropped pop fly by the 436th MXS and an error by the 736th AMXS outfielder left the teams tied 1-1 at the end of the second inning. It was the third inning that would give 736th AMXS the lead for the rest of the games. A bases-loaded single allowed one runner to score, followed by an outfield error that allowed two more runners to make it to home plate. "We play good fundamentals," said Daniel Marcy, 736th AMXS coach. "We didn't make any errors we couldn't recover from. When they left the bases open we were able to overtake them easily. A bases-loaded double by Brandon Womack, in the fifth inning allowed two runners to score. The 436th MXS rallied back and managed to score two more runs, but would not be able to overcome the six run lead their opponents held. "We won by the skin of our teeth, but we're still holding on to our undefeated streak," said Marcy.
