AFAF drive begins in March Published March 12, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Chad Padgett 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The annual Air Force Assistance Fund began March 1 Air Force wide. AFAF supports four charities, the Air Force Villages Foundation, The Air Force Aid Society, The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village. "These organizations help Air Force people with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance," said Capt. Erick Pacheco, 9th Airlift Squadron A-Flight commander and AFAF Installation Project Officer. "The AFAF provides support to the Air Force family; active duty, retirees, reservist, Guard and their dependents including surviving spouses," added Capt. Tomasz Stoklosa, 436th Operational Support Squadron aircrew flight equipment flight commander and assistant AFAF IPO. The AFAF project officers plan to raise awareness for the program by contacting 100 percent of Team Dover members. "The Air Force Villages Foundation provide widows of career retired Air Force Officers with dignified, appropriate and cost-effective living options," said Captain Pacheco. "The Air Force Aid Society is the official charity of the Air Force. It provides worldwide emergency assistance to Air Force members and their families by sponsoring educational assistance programs and offering a variety of base community enhancement programs." "The LeMay Foundation helps widows of all Air Force Retirees, both officers and enlisted, through financial grants of assistance," said Captain Stoklosa. "The Air Force Enlisted Village was founded in 1967 to provide a safe, secure and dignified place for indigent surviving spouses of retired Air Force personnel. The Village's primary goal and focus is to 'Provide a Home' and financial assistance to these women." The AFAF fund drive concludes April 19. "We hope to garner the same kind of support this year as last year," said Captain Pacheco. "The Dover team is very generous and takes care of their own."
