436th MDG offers sick call twice a day Published Dec. 15, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Shen-Chia Chu 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- The 436th Medical Group is now offering sick call twice a day for active-duty, and activated Guard and Reserve. Airmen can walk in to the Family Practice Clinic on the second floor and sign in for sick call every Monday through Friday from 7 - 8 a.m. and 12:45 - 1:30 p.m. "Having a sick call benefits everyone involved because taking care of our Airmen helps them get back to focusing on the mission while meeting the needs of patients with long-term health care issues," said Capt. Angela Anderson, 436th Medical Group practice manager. The purpose of sick call is primarily for Airmen who have an acute medical need from a new medical problem or symptom that needs to be addressed immediately. Sick call will not treat Airmen who have long-term medical conditions. "Sick call is for Airmen who can not wait for an appointment to be treated for their condition," said Capt. (Dr.) Daniel O'Connor, 3rd Airlift Squadron flight surgeon , who works as a flight medicine sick call doctor with the 436th Aerospace Medicine Squadron. "Chronic issues or symptoms are to be treated by appointment only, but those who are sick or have been recently injured are the priority." "By promptly dealing with medical issues on a walk-in basis, this will make it more efficient for family members and retirees to be seen for sooner appointments to access the medical care they need," said Captain O'Connor. "Dover's mission never stops and we want to make sure the health and readiness of our Airmen is a priority," said Captain Anderson.
