’08 Op. Cookie Drop lauded ‘huge success’ Published Dec. 8, 2008 By Tech. Sgt. Kevin Wallace 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Keeping with the legacy of Team Dover's giving spirit, Airmen and civilians chipped in to bake, collect and deliver more than 700 dozen cookies to 447 dormitory residents today. The effort, known as '2008 Operation COOKIE DROP,' was supported by base volunteers, as well as local community members. "Operation COOKIE DROP was a HUGE success thanks to an amazing staff of volunteers and Technical Sergeant Becky Thompson of the Junior NCO Association," said Chief Master Sgt. Jon Lynn, 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintenance superintendent. Chief Lynn extends a special thanks to the Dover Federal Credit Union, Lisa Stagg, United Services Organization Delaware's programs manager, the Chapel staff, Dover's Top 3, the Junior NCOA, and the Dover Chief's Group. Like Col. Steven Harrison, 436th Airlift Wing commander, said at his commander' s calls, Team Dover has an unbeatable spirit of giving, and the cookie drop is just one more testament to this spirit, said Chief Lynn. "The entire base supported this [effort] for our Airmen," said Chief Lynn, who has been running the program for the past two years. "This brings back memories of home. I love the way the local community supports our Airmen." Airmen and family members who did not get a chance to participate in this year's event need not dismay. According to Chief Lynn, this operation has no plan to terminate in the near future and is 'on schedule' again for next Holiday Season.
