Team Dover receives 'Excellent' grade for ORI Published Aug. 18, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Shen-Chia Chu 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Team Dover received an excellent for their performance during the recent operational readiness inspection in Alpena, Mich. The Air Mobility Command inspector general announced the grade during the ORI out-brief Aug. 14 at the Base Theater. Brig. Gen. Donald Lustig, AMC inspector general, and Col. Thomas Freese, AMC inspector general's office, received a warm welcome comprised of applause, sirens and more as they arrived to start the out-brief. The IG briefed Team Dover on the five-tier rating system on which their performance would be graded. Possible grades include outstanding, excellent, satisfactory, marginal and unsatisfactory. The 436th and 512th Airlift Wing were graded individually, and both received an overall score of excellent. "We pulled this off as a team," said Col. Steven Harrison, 436th Airlift Wing commander. "Not only did we deploy as a team, we did what had to be done and showed we could accomplish more than what the inspector general requires. There were some Ph.D.-level IG exercises thrown at our team, and they took them in stride." The colonel said he was impressed with Team Dover's initiative during the ORI. "We deployed our entire contingent twenty-four hours early and came home from the deployed location six hours ahead of the IG's timeline," said Colonel Harrison. "There were no major discrepancies in the personnel and cargo deployment functions and there were no major safety violations - that's impressive." Though Team Dover Airmen received an 'Excellent,' the wing commander asks Airmen to consider the most important score of all. "The most important thing is not the score you received out there or the score I give you, it's the score you give yourself. You all know how well you did," said Colonel Harrison. "Are you comfortable with what you've accomplished?" Active-duty and Reserve Airmen worked together to accomplish their mission and the grade was proof. "After nine arduous months of preparation, all of our hard work paid off," said Maj. Paul Theriot, 436th Airlift Wing Plans and Programs chief. "I believe we performed in an outstanding manner, learning a lot about ourselves and one another, and are ready to improve for the future." "We could not have done it without one another," said Colonel Harrison. "I can't thank you all enough for all the great work." Congratulations to the units and individuals recognized by the AMC inspector general during today's operational readiness inspection out brief at the Base Theater. 436th Airlift Wing 436th Aerial Port Squadron Team 436th Operations Support Squadron aircrew flight equipment team 9th Airlift Squadron BOLAR 81 436th Civil Engineer Squadron airfield damage repair team 436th CES airfield damage assessment and response team 436th CES fire emergency services team 436th Services Squadron mortuary team 436th Airlift Wing religious support team 436th Security Forces Squadron radio telephone operator team Capt.
