436th Medical Group members celebrated a joint change-of-command and re-activation ceremony July 2 at The Landings Club.

During the ceremony, Col. James Cocklin, 436th Dental Squadron commander, relinquished command of the 436th Aerospace Medicine Squadron and assumed command of the re-activated 436th Dental Squadron.

The 436th DS, deactivated in 2002, was re-activated to meet Air Force guidelines.

"I look forward to leading the 436th Dental Squadron, and I challenge each and every member of the squadron to continue your high standards and quality in all you do," said Colonel Cocklin.

The 436th DS is responsible for ensuring combat and individual readiness by providing preventative and comprehensive dental services to America's preeminent expeditionary airlift team.

Lt. Col. Peter Kovats, 436th AMDS commander, assumed command of the 436th AMDS.

Colonel Kovats said he would like to leave his people with three thoughts: do your best, do what is right and treat everyone the way you would want to be treated.

"These concepts may sound simple, but it takes dedication, pride and love for what you do to make it happen," said Colonel Kovats, who joins Team Dover after a tour at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

The 436th AMDS is responsible for operational and environmental medicine; to ensure Team Dover is fit, healthy and operationally ready to fulfill all aspects of Air Mobility Command's global airlift mission.
