Where were the activities to support Spouse Appreciation Month Published July 3, 2008 436th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Q: The first week in May was military spouse appreciation week. However, there were no activities to show appreciation to the spouses, or if there were, they were not advertised. Can you explain why? A: I also noticed that the only mention of Spouse Appreciation Month was a story about President Bush and Secretary Gates honoring military spouses at a White House ceremony in the May 9 Airlifter. Although we have numerous spouse oriented activities and programs at the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, Chapel and elsewhere throughout the year, I've asked our Public Affairs staff to target the next Spouse Appreciation Month for Dover-specific attention. We'll also work to find which agency is best suited to hold an activity at Dover AFB recognizing Spouse Appreciation Month directly. Our Spouses make endless sacrifices every day of the year, and we should make a special effort to let them know we appreciate it during Spouse Appreciation Month.
