The 436th Communications Squadron beat the 736th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron 36 - 33 during an intramural basketball game Feb. 25 at the Fitness Center.

"We have a good team if everyone shows up, and we play the way we're capable of playing, said Robert Duray, 436th CS. "My strategy for the team is just to play the best I can."

Comm started the game off with a 2-pointer tossed in by Gary Stines and then a 3-point shot made by KeAndre Stanton.

The maintainers battled back until the very end.

"We're trying to run a good offense, and it's our goal is to penetrate the Comm Squadron's zone," said Seth Scott, 736th AMXS.

However, despite a few turnovers and jump shots from the Maintainers, the ball grazed the rim without making any tip-ins, helping Comm stay in the lead for the first five minutes of the game.

Both teams stayed close with the point spread, and by the end of the first half, the Maintainers scored 22 points, leading by one point.

Through assists, bounce passes and well-played choreography, Comm made a come-back of 32 - 25 in the second half.

Duray made a drive for the basket and scored two points with 30 seconds left on the clock, but Chance Wisdom, 736th AMXS, fought back with a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in the game.

Comm then kept the ball away from the Maintainer's hands as the victorious team made several bounce passes to tip the scales.

The clock stopped at 8 seconds, 3 seconds and 2 seconds left in the game as both teams wrestled with ownership of the ball until the buzzer rang and Comm was declared victorious 36 - 33.
