Super Bowl Bingo kicks off the New Year

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  The Dover Air Force Base Community Center prepares to host its 4th Annual Super Bowl Bingo, which features bingo games with a football flair, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.

For inclement weather, the alternate date will be Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.

The winners of the first nine games will be rewarded with cash prizes ranging from $100 to $300 each. The winner of the final game of the evening will receive the grand prize.

"The grand prize is a package for two to Super Bowl XLII in Phoenix on February 3," said Frank Russo, 436th Services Squadron Community Center director. "The package is valued at $8,500, and includes tickets to the game, round trip airline tickets, a four-day, three-night stay at the Hospitality Suite Resort Scottsdale, transportation to and from the game, a free breakfast and cocktail hour daily, welcome gift and complimentary beverage upon hotel arrival. Or, you can take your prize as $5,000 in cash (instead)."

Additionally, door prizes will be given out between each game. In all, 21 autographed pieces of football memorabilia, with certificates of authenticity, will be given as door prizes.

There is no need to eat prior to the event as food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the evening.

Tickets are on sale through Jan. 12 at the Eagle Lanes Bowling Center and The Landings Club for $70 per person. Also, tickets will be available for purchase at the door for the same price, but cash only.

With the purchase of a ticket, members will receive a football collector's glass, a dauber, two door prize tickets and ten games of bingo (Three cards per game). Additional bingo cards will be sold for various prices during the event.

"Super Bowl Bingo is held two weeks prior to the Super Bowl," said Mr. Russo. "There are two football games (being played during the) night - the (American Football Conference) Divisional Playoff and the (National Football Conference Playoff)."

"We will be showing both on big screen TVs during the event," he continued. "Dover Team members have the opportunity to join us for what will be a fun and exciting evening for everyone, football fan or not!"

This event is restricted to those 12 and older, and everyone must have a ticket to attend.
