Four key turnovers made all the difference as the 436th Comptroller Squadron and the 512th Operations Group's 'combined' efforts topped the 436th Maintenance Squadron 6 - 0 during Tuesday night's intramural flag football game.

The meeting of two stalwart defenses led to only one score for the match up.

Jason 'Jonesy' Jones, CPTS/OG player's speed gained him 30 yards during a key play of the drive. He then threw a pass to Justin Leonard, CPTS/OG, who lateraled to Nicholas Kolesnikov, tacking up six points during the first half.

"We have pretty good chemistry playing as a combining team," said John Saffold, CPTS/OG coach. "When our team shows up, we can play against anybody."

On an early play, CPTS/OG quickly gained ground for a first down as they fought their way past the 20-yard line, but fumbled the ball and ran out of bounds.
Kolesnikov intercepted the ball during the second half and scampered more than five yards keeping the teams deadlocked, at 0 - 0.

MXS fought back when De'Erick Gray made an interception, taking them down past the 20-yard line.

"We gotta grab the flag, that's what's killing us out there," said Gray.

MXS made their best attempts to comeback, but were unable to overcome the CPTS/OG's defense and their own mistakes.

Two errors which set the Maintainers back were when a player's flag fell off as he sprinted for a large gain, and the team also made a false start during the second half.
The game ended when Jones threw a final interception.

"It was a defensive struggle, but they're a good team," said Saffold.
