The 436th Security Forces Squadron beat the 436th Maintenance Squadron 13 - 8 in the 2007 Dover Air Force Base Championship Softball Game Aug. 24.

"This will be a tough game because we've only lost once all season to one team - the Maintainers," said Matt Rotuno, SFS coach. "There is bad blood between us because of this and we plan not to lose against them again."

The MXS coach has other plans.

"I think we have a chance," said Joe Mageau, MXS coach. "Luck will not be a factor in this game. We're two talented teams, and the only way we'll lose is if SFS gets lucky."
The Maintainers scored three runs during the first inning, but by the end of second, the score was tied.

Neither team budged and the score was tied 5 - 5 through the fifth.

The Maintainers regained the lead scoring three runs during the sixth. However, the Cops' bats finally heated up and scored five runs to close the inning.

Leaving no room or a second game, the Cops toppled the Maintainers with three more runs in the seventh inning and taking the game to 13 - 8.

"We did expect to win, but expected a difficult battle because MXS is a really good team and we knew the competition was going to be tough," said Rick Barker, SFS first baseman.
