Staff. Sgt. Carl Coffman, 436th Civil Engineer Squadron, and his family received the keys to their new home Jan. 12 during a ribbon cutting ceremony for the first new privatized home at Dover Air Force Base.

The home is one of hundreds of new homes Pinnacle, Dover's privatized housing manager, is building for the base. The new homes range from three - five bedrooms and 1,464 conditioned gross-square footage to 3,073 conditioned gross-square footage over 18 different floor plans.

"We expect to receive the keys to eight new units today from the construction company," said Deborah Augustine, Pinnacle community manager. "As soon as we get the keys to a new home, we will immediately notify the family receiving the home so they can come sign their lease and receive the keys."

Once they receive the keys, members will have nine days to move into their new home if they are moving from one Pinnacle home to another, she said.

The homes west of Center Road are being redirected into new housing first, Ms. Augustine said.

All servicemembers who live west of Center Road will move in two phases. The first phase has a must move day of Feb. 9 and the second phase has a must move day of March 9.

Another important part of the ribbon cutting ceremony was the unveiling of the new Community Center. The center is on the corner of High Street across from The Shoppette.

Members who toured the new home also toured the Community Center.

The center offers several features, said Ms. Augustine. Besides housing Pinnacle's offices, the center has a Great Room with a fire place and television, business center, multi-purpose room, furnished game room, work-out center with children's play area and men's and women's shower rooms. There are even plans to install a kiddy pool out-side the workout center.

"The pool will have a beach entry, will go up to 3 feet and will have water features in the pool," she said. "There will also be pool furniture."

Despite being in the finishing stages of construction, Pinnacle said they already have several reservations for the center and are making plans to move into their new offices soon, said Ms. Augustine.

"We are hoping that the CC will be a place where the families will feel comfortable coming together as a community and having a good time,' she said. "Convenience is a big factor, too. "For more information about new privatized housing, call Pinnacle at (302) 678-3603.
