Recently the Air Force Safety Center selected Dover Air Force Base as one of eight Air Force bases to host a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider-Coach Preparation Workshop.

Dover reinstated the Basic Motorcycle Safety Course last August after a 10-year hiatus and is now looking to train instructors to teach the basic and advanced rider courses.

"The Air Force sponsored course will include 12 participants; six from Dover and six from around the Air Force," said Staff Sgt. Harold Joe, 436th AW Safety Office. "The course will be held April 10 - 23."

The safety office will be holding formal interviews for anyone interested in attending the course Feb. 17. The last date to turn in applications is Feb. 10.

The safety office has set several requirements which participants must meet in order to attend class.

- Basic Rider Course complete

- Advanced Rider Course complete

- 1,000 miles and two years riding experience

- Good driving record

Once class is completed, students will be qualified to teach the motorcycle safety course for the state of Delaware as well as the course on base.
