Food Transformation Initiative Update Published Aug. 26, 2015 By Captain Jake Wygant 436th Force Support Squadron DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Food service at Dover Air Force base is undergoing a transformation and customers can expect many improvements. On April 1, 2015, the Patterson Dining Facility closed its doors and the Food Transformation Initiative renovation began. When the DFAC reopens, diners will find a modernized serving area full of new menu options served by talented Services Airmen and available to anyone with base access. Prior to the Food Transformation Initiative, the Patterson Dining Facility dorm residents and other enlisted Airmen with a few exceptions. When the Patterson Dining Facility reopens, it will be open to everyone on base including military, civilians, contractors and retirees. The Food Transformation Initiative will bring more than just changes at the Patterson Dining Facility. Dorm Airmen on Essential Station Messing, commonly referred to as meal cards, will be able to use their entitlement at Mulligans located at the Eagle Creek Golf Course or the King Pin Café located at the Eagle Lanes Bowling Center under a program known as Campus Dining. One of the goals of the Food Transformation Initiative is to increase the variety of meals available on base. Campus dining helps accomplish this goal by providing more options to our dorm Airmen who previously could only use their entitlements at one the DFAC. To further meet the goal of more dining options, Dover Air Force Base will open a new food kiosk located in Building 794. This new kiosk will provide immediate food access to the north side of the base, currently an underserved area. The kiosk will be open to everyone, just like the DFAC, and will serve hot food as well as many grab-and-go items. Team Dover will still have to wait a couple of months for the renovations to be complete and the new food options to come on-line. Both the renovation at the DFAC and the establishment of the kiosk are targeted for completion on 1 Nov 15.
