Service contract awarded to Tidewater Utilities Incorporated Published Aug. 26, 2014 Courtesy Story DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Tidewater Utilities Incorporated (TUI) has been awarded a 50 year service contract at Dover Air Force Base for the operational management of the water production and distribution system, for the Industrial side of base and lodging, Dover Express, pool, billeting, golf course and youth center on the west side of DE -1. The Air Force conducted a water privatization study in 2009 and through an extensive competitive bid process was able to award the contract in 2013. Since the award of the contract Tidewater Utilities Incorporated has gained acceptance with the Delaware Public Service Commission to service Dover AFB. Additionally a joint inventory of assets had to be conducted for the "Bill of Sale" to properly convey the system over to TUI as the system owner. The official start of ownership is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2014. Considerable cost savings will be realized by the Air Force over the life of the contract as well as capital improvements to the system infrastructure. Tidewater Utilities Incorporated partnered with 436th Civil Engineer and Contracting Squadron personnel to seamlessly transition the system operations while simultaneously building a strong professional relationship. Base consumers will see no change in the quality of service and consumer confidence than what is expected of their current utility service. Any question on this matter should be directed to Mr. Dennis Committee, 436 CES Operations Flight Deputy, at 677-6259.
