Capt. Tony Richardson, 436th AW/PA chief, and Jennifer Vallee, 436th AW/PA community relations chief, were each honored with individual awards by AMC for their outstanding public affairs and communication efforts throughout 2013. Both will go on to compete at the Air Force level awards. "The award itself is not necessarily about me," Richardson said. "This is more about what we as a unit have been able to accomplish." Richardson was awarded the AMC Outstanding Communication Company Grade Officer Award. Nominees for this award must demonstrate outstanding leadership and management in planning and executing communication efforts. Their actions must show how they accomplish communication objectives in the execution of their operational and tactical missions. Emphasis is placed on leveraging all communication functions to achieve measurable efforts. Col. Rick Moore, 436th AW commander, spoke on Richardson's accomplishments. "I can't imagine a more deserving recipient of this important award," said Col. Moore. "Capt. Richardson has done an exemplary job of crafting and sharing our Wing's message, and he has been an outstanding Wing Staff Agency director. We're truly lucky to have him on our team!" Vallee won the AMC Outstanding Communication Tactical Level Civilian Award. In order to be considered for this award, nominees must demonstrate an outstanding ability to assist in planning and executing communication activities and/or creating products that achieve desired communication efforts. "This award is so meaningful because it was awarded from our major command and I am surrounded with amazing individuals who provide me with their utmost support," said Vallee. "I am so fortunate that I have the opportunity to contribute to an amazing team here at Dover. We have the best Wing PA shop in AMC and I am proud to be a part of it. This shop is very enthusiastic about what we do here, and it shows significantly in our daily work." This is the second consecutive year Vallee has won this award. "We see the results; we see the relationship we have with the downtown community, our congressional delegation and our civic leaders," said Richardson. "It is evident that they know who [Vallee] is, they know the type of work that she's able to produce, and she never ceases to amaze on a day-to-day basis." The 436th AW/PA also won second place for Best Overall Communications Program and Best Issues Management in AMC.
