Message current as of 11 p.m. Oct. 27, 2012.

Due to the high potential of flooding from Hurricane Sandy, the following base housing residences are directed to evacuate by order of the 436th Airlift Wing commander: odd numbered units from 4001 to 4055 Fig St; 5004 and 5005 Gingko St; odd numbered units from 6001 to 6039 Hazelnut Dr; and even numbered units from 8000 to 8022 Pistachio Pl as well as 8015 and 8017 Pistachio Pl. The remaining houses are forecasted to remain out of the flood surge zone at this time. Additionally, military members living off-base within .75 miles of the coast are directed to evacuate on the same timeline as the on-base areas listed above.

These residents must be evacuated by 4 p.m. Oct. 28, 2012.

Note that the deadline below is four hours prior to the deadline established by the governor of Delaware. Military members must comply with this more-restrictive timeline.

Evacuating members must contact their Unit Control Center (UCC) with their departure destination and contact numbers. Upon their arrival, the member must again notify their squadron UCC.

Active duty members must also notify their squadron commander of their evacuation plans and intended destination prior to their departure from the local area. The members must then relay to their squadron commander consistent progress updates - especially those pertaining to arrivals, departures and movements - throughout the course of their evacuation for accountability.

Currently, the residences specified above are the ONLY residences from which military members are authorized to evacuate. However, all military dependents may evacuate at their own expense.

Military members, dependents and civilians ordered to evacuate are authorized the use of Government Travel Card. Members are authorized mileage reimbursement not to exceed 350 miles one way from Dover AFB. Civilians and military members without a GTC are authorized a pay advance (this includes dependents if the military member is either deployed or TDY). That advance will be obtained as instructed below:

Members evacuating beyond the DELMARVA peninsula should pay careful attention to the wind limits on the bridges. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Bridge will close when the wind reaches 40 mph (35 knots). The current forecast is for this to occur at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, but may change after this order is published.

Subsequent updates and return guidance will be provided via their UCC, the 436th Airlift Wing FaceBook page, (302) 677-BASE, and the Dover AFB webpage at www.dover.af.mil.
