Comedian McGrenanhan uses comedy as the cure

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- We've all heard the saying that laughter is the best medicine.

With the help of comedian Bernie McGrenanhan, Team Dover members will receive a dose of "Comedy is the Cure," a new way of educating and entertaining in the one-hour presentation 10 am and 3 p.m. June 3 and 8 a.m. June 4 at the Dover Air Force Base Theater.

Jokes and humor aren't the only thing Mr. McGrenahan will be presenting to Dover Airmen in his presentation. His "Happy Hour" tour is designed to establish rapport with the audience and build trust by using his own personal life struggles.

Mr. McGrenahan shares his life story of being a former 'A' student and athlete, as well as a high-risk drinker, who had lost it all. He also delivers a 30-minute serious talk on alcohol, drug and sexual assault prevention, and risk-reduction safety. Mr. McGrenahan has also entertained servicemembers stationed overseas in more than twenty countries.

"This is a great opportunity to grab the attention of our Airmen with humor and personal
experiences, yet drive home a powerful and profound safety message," said Tech. Sgt. Jeffery Engram, 436th Airlift Wing Safety Office Ground Safety NCO In-Charge.

"Though this may seem just like a stand-up comedy show at first, I believe Mr. McGrenahan will deliver a powerful and inspirational message that will help change minds about drinking and partying habits," said Kevin Greene, 436th AW Safety Office Chief of Ground Safety.
