The Air Force implemented changes in the current annual fitness test March 1, 2010.

One change is the graders for the fitness test. The graders are no longer members of your squadron or unit, but a team called the Fitness Assessment Cell. Everyone, active duty and reserve, will be graded by the FAC.

With the new FAC, there will be 92 assessment slots available each month, said Mindy Rolkowski, 436th Force Support Squadron fitness center director.

Squadron fitness representative will schedule Team Dover members' test on a calendar located on the EIM site, created by Senior Airman Paul Jones, 436th Communications Squadron, said Ms. Rolkowski.

In addition to the FAC being stood up, new weather standards took effect on March 1. According to Air Force Instruction 36-2905, the temperature must be above 32 degree, a heat index of below 99 degrees, a maximum of 15 miles per hour sustained winds or 20 miles per hour gusting winds.

The next set of changes will begin July 1, with a whole new point-value system. Until then the servicemember will be provided with both scores but graded on the current one, said Ms. Rolkowski.

"The trends show that if you currently carry a score around 75-76 you will not pass under the new standards, but if you currently carry a score of 85 or over, you will do better under the new standards," said Ms. Rolkowski.

Those tested will be given a maximum of 60 points for the run, 20 points for waist measurement, 10 points for push-ups and 10 points for sit-ups.

"The most important thing a member needs to remember under the new program is you must meet the minimum requirement in all components in order to pass," emphasizes Ms. Rolkowski.

If a servicemember has duty limiting conditions prohibiting them from performing one or more of the components, they will receive a Pass or Fail rating, rather than an Excellent, Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory given to those who will be testing in all four components.

Also beginning July 1, servicemembers will be eligible to wear a patch on their physical training uniform recognizing accomplishments, according to the Air Force Fitness Program website. Only the highest accomplishment patch will be worn at one time.

Active duty personnel that are interested in getting a workout program can contact Mr. John Murray at 677-3968, added Mr. Rolkowski.
